BRING YOUR VESSELS NOT A FEW
2 Kings 4. 1-7
As
the year begins to tick away day after day, believer’s expectations are to be
brought to the Lord for fulfillment.
Great plans and proposals can only be accomplished if the Lord approves it. And
the Lord has assured us of His willingness to bless us and His ability to
transform our fears into great testimony. Your vessels in this concept are your
needs and desires as many as they could be whether they are spiritual,
financial, physical or in the family. You can only receive to the level of
passion and expectations you have in God. This was the story of the widow in
our text today. She was confronted with four tragedies in rapid succession, and
all within a short time. Yet she needs a solution to every one of them. Her
decision to come to Elisha, the man of God brought the exactly needed solution
to all her life problems. Her poverty was turned to prosperity, her
hopelessness was turned to hopefulness, and her family life changed from penury
and mourning to flourishing bountifulness. There is always an appropriate
solution with the Lord our God. He is “the very present Help in trouble”(Ps.46.1) and He is able to do all things. Tonight He calls everyone to bring their
vessels of heart desires and needs to Him, and he will answer us and bring a timely solution to all your problems in Jesus
Name.
Consecrating our lives to Christ
throughout the year. 2 Kings 4.1a, Proverbs
23.26, Romans 12.1-2, Acts 6.4,
God
cares for His own particularly those that fully consecrate their lives to Him.
He is, therefore, calling all men today to surrender their lives and families
to Him. The family of this widow was a God-fearing one. The Husband, being one
of the sons of the prophet had consecrated his life and family to God in his
lifetime. He indeed served the Lord to
the end. In the same way, the Lord calls
every one of us to fully consecrate ourselves to Him, and render acceptable
service to Him this year. This is the only guarantee for our security in the
days of trouble and adversities. Our consecration must begin from or personal
life. Every Christian is called to total submissions
like this woman’s husband, and her family. Believers are also called to
consecrate their time for the service of God. In evangelism, in sharing and
giving, in following up and visitation of new converts and old members of the
church. We are called to a lifestyle of complete obedience to God and devotion
to His words. The holiness of life and
character must be our watchword this year so that when the days of adversity
comes like it came to this family, we also could be able to have a refuge in
the Almighty God.
Challenges in life in spite of
Christ-likeness. 2 Kings 4.1, 2 Kings 6. 25-30, Gen. 30.1, 2 Kings 5.1, John
16.33,
The
Lord had not promised us a trouble-free journey. But He has assured us of victory in all the
battles of life. Tragedy struck in the family of this woman of God. Firstly the
family had been living in debt and penury while the breadwinner was alive. Secondly husband died and her source of livelihood
ended. Thirdly, the creditor came to take her two sons as bondmen into slavery
and servitude. All these made her hopeless, helpless and grossly
sorrowful. Do you know that many people
are living with this family today? Many are living from hand to mouth; many
are even in abject poverty while so many others are in debt and spiritual
servitude. The devil had tied many people down into slavery and perennial
sicknesses like Naaman the leper, and
they are helpless and hopeless. To some others, their predicament is the
absence of children in the home, while others are looking for the right partner
in marriage. Truly, there are many challenges and trauma in the world but our
Lord who has the solution to every problem had assured us of victory. And from
this day, an end shall come to all the problems in Jesus name.
Calling Upon the Lord for Complete
Solution. Isa. 40.28-31, 2 Kings 4. 2-7. Matt. 14.17-21, 2 Kings 7.1,16, Ps. 50.15, Ps. 91.15,Jeremiah
29.11-12, Eph.3.20
God
is awesome and unsearchable in His doings. He has all the power to wipe out
every drop of tears in your eyes. He has a complete
solution to every problem of man.
The man of God, Elisha was used to turning
the poverty of that family into a
prosperous and flourishing one who can now boast of having leftovers (for
further investments) after paying her debts. This same God is still the same
today and He will meet every need here this day in Jesus name. Truly, the woman
called upon the Lord (by coming to Elisha the man of God), and the Lord
answered. But the miracle happened when
the woman discovered what she had (a pot
of oil). God specializes in using the negligible.
He used five loaves and two fishes to feed five thousand people. What can God
not do? He turned the affliction of Job and made him have sufficiency. He turned
poverty to prosperity at the gate of Samaria miraculously using the neglected
lepers. You also need to pray to discover your talent and that God should
miraculously transform them to greatness. Bring your vessels not a few because
they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Pray today and the Lord will surely answer
your prayer. Commit the entire year (in every section of your life – personal,
spiritual, financial, children, family, health etc.) before the Lord and He
will carry you through successfully in Jesus name.
